Messages page tutorial
This page lets a provider read customer and operator messages, see unread counts, review requested food and beverage items, reply to conversations, and view booking details connected to a message.

Provider messages · Page overview
Provider navigation shows Messages as the active area and displays the unread count in the navigation when there are unread messages.
Left inbox lists message conversations.
Right conversation area shows the selected conversation.
Message chips identify food and beverage requests, change requests, invitations and unread messages.
Requested items panel appears for food and beverage requests when items from the provider’s menu are included.
Reply area lets the provider send a message back in the selected conversation.
Booking panel appears when the message subject contains a booking reference and the booking can be loaded.

Provider messages · Loading
Loading screen appears while the provider profile, conversations and provider menu items are being prepared.
Spinner appears beside the Loading message.
If the provider is not signed in, the provider is taken to the provider login page.
Provider messages · Conversation list
Sender name appears at the top of each conversation row.
Relative time appears beside the sender name, such as just now, minutes ago, hours ago or days ago.
Subject line shows the message subject when available.
Fallback subject shows F&B Request for food and beverage request messages or Message for general messages.
Preview line shows the latest message text and shortens it if it is long.
Selected conversation turns light blue and has a blue left border.
Unread conversation has a highlighted background and a new-message badge.
Opening a conversation clears its unread count in the inbox.

F&B Request chip appears when the conversation is a food and beverage request.
Change Request chip appears when the conversation is about an alteration request.
Invitation chip appears when the message is a food and beverage invitation.
Invitation status can show Sent invitation, Accepted or Declined.
Unread chip shows how many new messages are in that conversation.

Empty message area appears when no conversation has been selected yet.
Envelope icon appears above the instruction.
Select a message to read it tells the provider to choose a conversation from the inbox.

Conversation header shows the selected subject.
From line shows who sent the conversation.
Conversation loading message appears while messages are opening.
Other person’s messages appear on the left in light grey bubbles.
Provider’s messages appear on the right in blue bubbles.
Sender name appears above messages that are not from the provider.
Message time appears below each message using relative time.
Line breaks are kept inside message bubbles.

Requested items panel appears only for food and beverage request conversations that include matching items from the provider’s own menu.
Panel label names the boat connected to the requested items when the boat name is available.
Item image appears when the menu item has an image.
Item name appears in bold.
Item description appears when available.
Item price shows Quote only when there is no price, otherwise it shows the price and charging style.
Charging style labels can show Flat fee, Per person or Per hour.

Provider messages · Reply box
Reply box appears only after a conversation is selected.
Placeholder text says “Write a reply…” before typing.
Send button is disabled until there is text in the reply box.
Press Enter sends the reply.
Shift + Enter adds a new line instead of sending.
Sending message appears on the button while the reply is being sent.
After sending, the provider’s message appears immediately in the conversation and the reply box clears.
If sending fails, the page shows a failed-to-send alert or a network error alert.

Booking panel appears when the selected conversation subject includes a booking reference and booking details can be found.
Loading booking label appears while booking details are opening.
Collapsed booking row shows the booking reference.
Arrow button opens or closes the booking panel.
Booking details grid can show vessel, booking status, guest count, date, time and boarding location.
Date is shown in Australian format when booking date is available.
Boarding location shows a dash if no pickup location is available.

Provider messages · Mobile layout
Messages layout becomes one column on small screens.
Inbox appears above the conversation instead of beside it.
Inbox height is limited so the conversation remains visible below it.
Conversation area remains below with messages, reply box and booking panel.
Message bubbles become wider so messages are easier to read on phones.
Reply box uses smaller side spacing on mobile.
